Go Green Save the Environment (GGSE)
Go Green save the Environment is a local non- governmental organization based in Malawi which aims at addressing the effects of climate change. This is done by engaging youths and other community groups in tree planting programs. The organization has been dealing with waste including plastic pollution through waste management systems and interventions such as making paving blocks from plastics and manure making.
The other important project that the organization has been involved in an Assessment circular economy in waste management road map. This project was supported by Malawi Government through National Commission for Science and Technology, TNO, SIB and funded by Climate…. In this assessment; Go Green carried out a household waste survey to assess the quantities of various waste streams generated in purposively selected districts.
Committed to address the basic needs of the poor and vulnerable members of the Malawian population through a number of interventions like youths and women involvement in climate action initiatives which these vulnerable members of the communities participate and are empowered. Climate change is at the center of negatively affecting the day to day life of the local communities making the poorer than before. All in all, Go Green seeks to ensure that vulnerable communities are resilient and have adapted to negative effects of climate change.
GGSE was established on 20th July, 2017, and was duly registered with the Department of Registrar General under the Trustees Incorporation Act on 12 February, 2018. GGSE also got registered with the Council for Non-Governmental Organizations (CONGOMA) on 08 July, 2020.
Go Green Save Environment has its headquarters at VH Mtilirwa, TA Mkumbira, Off T318 Nkhata bay Road, with sub-offices in Mzuzu, Likoma island. Lilongwe and Blantyre, enabling the organization to work with diverse communities throughout Malawi. Being a membership-based organization, all its members work as volunteers and has a number of volunteers for specific projects in various parts within Malawi.
